Attain Academy Partnership Headteachers’ Conference

Laughology

Lead Happiness Consultant Dave Keeling loves a headteachers’ conference, especially if he gets to do what he affectionately calls the ‘send-them-home-happy’ slot.

So charged with this responsibility and faced with a warm and welcoming group of  Chelmsford-based primary heads from Attain Academy Partnership, Dave got off to a fast start with a 90-min FLIP-it Thinking session, with the sole purpose of making ’em laugh, making ’em think and giving them space and time to reflect, renew and refresh why they do what they do.

The session covered the following in a variety of different ways:

  • How we process thoughts – and why we have wonky ones
  • Fast/slow thinking – the power of the pause
  • Circle of control – how to shift from knowing to doing
  • Power of words – how to put values back at the heart of what we do
  • Magic questions – having a holiday from your own head
  • Future focussed thinking – action-based reflection

The session was full of thinking, collaboration and laughs, and everyone went home with a pep in their step, achy faces, and just that little bit happier.
