Developing resilience at Francis Holland School

Laughology
Laughologist, Alison Carter, visited Francis Holland School in mid-November to spend a full day working across all year groups in KS2.

The focus for the day was developing resilience and exploring how changing the way we think can help us face problems. It also covered how the children could develop their confidence and problem-solving skills all at the same time!

All students were incredibly enthusiastic and embraced the discussions, threw themselves into the games and showed a wonderful understanding of why this was beneficial to them and how they could apply it to their learning going forward.

By the end of the sessions, pupils felt empowered to face their own challenges, armed with tools and memorable stories to remind them of how brilliant our brains truly are. Two of their favourite tools were:

  • Imagining the best possible scenario too, when our mind jumps to the worst possible one
  • Developing a personal positive mantra for success.
