Mental Wellbeing for Teachers at Khalsa Primary School

Laughology

Selina Brown was excited to deliver a mental wellbeing session to teachers at Khalsa Primary School this month. One of the reasons was that she was generously included in their morning kirtan (pronounced keer-tan). For those of you who have never heard of kirtan, it’s classed as a form of meditation whereby people chant mantras normally to live music.

Although she’s never formally studied this, Selina prides herself on being a life-long learner of meditation and has been practising kirtan for about six months. The beauty of a practice like kirtan is that it’s always carried out in the community with music, so you can get some of your daily DOSE of happiness first thing.

The second reason she loves delivering these mental wellbeing sessions is that she enjoys seeing the lightbulb moment on someone’s face when something clicks for them. It seems to happen a lot in mental wellbeing sessions because people often gain a better understanding of themselves and others.

It was a fun morning, and Selina arrived back at HCS HQ saying it was the best lunch she’d ever been given after delivering a training course. Quite the accolade! Time to up our game for the HCS team meetings…
